Role Description

  • Communicate the scientific merit and strategy of Orange Grove Bio to investors
  • Establish scientific priorities for company creation and work with venture partner team to identify those priority areas
  • Review portfolio regularly to assess scientific “gap areas” for future investment
  • Provide periodic reviews to the CEO on the direction of future scientific advancement in the areas of focus for OGB
  • Fulfill Orange Grove Bio’s mission and strategic objectives by overseeing the advancement of small molecule and biology assets through pre-clinical development
  • Supervise key discovery experiments and development processes to advance portfolio company programs towards preclinical milestones
  • Establish research collaborations consistent with Orange Grove Bio’s strategic vision
  • Supervise the interactions with external academic, biotech, and contract research organizations (CRO), and the internal scientific team of experts
  • Report directly to Chief Executive Officer of Orange Grove Bio
  • Mentor and develop direct R&D reports

Requirements

  • Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D. with 15+ years in the biotech industry or pharmaceutical industry, and/or operating in managerial positions for the last 5-10 years with a track record of advancing discovery projects into early clinical development
  • Experience as a public company Chief Scientific Officer interacting with venture capital and biotech funds
  • Leverages principles underlying drug discovery of NCEs ranging from biological target engagement, preclinical and clinical biomarkers, translational studies, and PK/PD relationships
  • Strong publication or patenting track record with 10+ years of experience in drug discovery with a good understanding of both discovery and preclinical and early clinical development
  • Experience with small-molecule new chemical entities and novel targets
  • Familiar with regulatory requirements for advancing IND enabling studies through clinical trials
  • Comfortable in a start-up environment
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills
